Well August is almost here and its time to wish a Hap-Hap-Happy Birthday to Frank and Trisha! We don't know how old Frank will be but his birthday is on August 1st so if you get a chance, wish him a Happy Birthday. Trisha's birthday is August 27th. Trisha is vibrant and young and only in her mid twenties! Give her jingle and wish her a Happy Birthday! We hope Frank and Trish both have fabulous birthdays because they deserve it.

If anyone has a picture of Frank or Trish they would like to send me I will post it on here for us all to enjoy!!! I am sure they would both love that!

Auntie Sharon's Lunch Date

Today, July 7, 2008 was my dad's 87th birthday!.. I went up to St. George, to take them out to dinner to celabrate this remarkable man's birthday. I had such a good time visiting with dad and Nell.

At the resturant, I excused myself to go to the restroom, and told our waitress that it was dad's birthday. So after we had finished our meal, a group of employees came to our table singing Happy Birthday! and presented dad with a "hot fudge sundae". He truely was surprised. As he heard them singing and clapping before they arrrived at our table he was looking around to see what was going on. He had completely forgotten that it was HIS birthday! He was so happy and surprised, just like a kid. He said, "how did they know?" then he realized that I must have told them when I went to the restroom. It really was priceless to see his response!

We sat there for about three hours visiting. Dad was telling stories about his experiences in the war. I wished I had remembered to have taken my tape recorder. Darn it!. We talked about what he wanted to have on his "headstone" when he leaves us, in many years to come. I had just been to a funeral a few days before, that had a military service. I told dad that we needed to know more about his military responsiblities, so that we could include them in his obiturary. Something that I didn't know was that dad was in the third army of General Patton's regiment. Now, I know you all are probably thinking what a conversation to be having on his birhtday, talking about his obiturary! But believe me, we laughed, giggled, and cried about so many different events and experiences that he has had in his life! We are so fortunate to have such a great father, and grandfather, that is so healthy and alert for his age! Granted there are times he does get a little forgetful, but don't we all?

As we were leaving, I told dad that we would meet again next year, same time, same day, just maybe a different resturant to celebrate another year. He told me that's a date!!!!

Both dad and Nell are doing well. They are happy and content.

Happy Birthday to:
Grandpa and Nick July 7th
Cindy July 27th

If you know of more July birthdays please please please let me know!

Greetings from the Finn Family

Our summers the past few years have been pretty eventful. Shelbie stays busy and keeps us busy with 4-H and queening. I don't know what happened to the nice quiet long summers I had as a kid. Anyway, we loved the family reunion. I can't believe how much I look forward to seeing everyone and being together with all of you. Yes, it was hot in Snow Canyon but everyone I've talked to had a really good time.

If you don't already know what's going on with our family, here's an update. Ericka, Chris and the 4 kids, Brittani, Cloey, Natalie and Skyler are living with us for a year or two. It's been fun to have the grandkids here everyday. There are 9 of us living in this house. Chad is married to Misty and they have her two boys Steven is 6 and Gregory is 4. We love Misty and the boys. They live in Ephraim. Tara and Paul have 2 baby boys, Connor is 21 months and Dylan is 1 month (go Tara!) They live in St George. Scott is still single (and happy to be that way for now) working and living in Ephraim. And as for Shelbie, she is doing great and loving her horses. They keep her pretty busy. Rob stays busy with work and helping Shelbie with the horses. So our lives are pretty full. I won't post any pictures for now. Just click on Mama Finn's blog and you'll see a lot of the family.

Love you all. Pam

Hello from the Poole Family

Hello from the Poole Family,
It was nice to see everyone and visit at the reunion. Wish we could have spent more time visiting. Oh well, life is great here in South Jordan. Things are quiet around the house with Crystal gone. But, she loves it up in Logan and we are excited for her. She has one more year and she will graduate from Utah State University. We pass the time by going to work each day and then coming home to water our lawn and flowers. We love to go to movies and just hang out.

We try to take a vacation once a year and so this spring we went to Williamsburg, Virginia. Crystal was able to go with us and we took Rondo’s Mom & Dad with us as well. Needless to say, we had a great time. We learned so much about the Revolutionary War it really made me want to go back to school and take a few history classes. Colonial Williamsburg is famous for the many freedom debates that took place there by Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. We also went to Jamestown, Virginia which was the first permanent English settlement in the United States. We learned about the sacrifices and hardships these early settlers endured. To complete the famous historical triangle, we visited Yorktown which is famous for the last battle of the Revolutionary War. The British General Cornwallis surrendered his army to General George Washington here. It was a very interesting vacation. We were able to see the homes of a few of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. This 4th of July as we remember the sacrifices that the founders of this country went through, I feel a more personal relationship to these great people. Crystal and I were able to take a day trip to Washington, D.C. I was able to see the Declaration of Independence! Now I want to go back to D.C. someday when we can spend more time. We stopped in Atlanta, Georgia on the way home and visited Stone Mountain and the Georgia Aquarium. I love the Georgia Aquarium and finally got to show it to Rondo and Crystal.

This summer we are just staying home and trying to stay cool in this very hot weather. We are going to Idaho for the 4th of July. We love the big celebration in the small town of Menan where Rondo grew up. We are expecting some company this August. We will be hosting some great friends from Japan and my cousin’s family from California.

Love to you all!

Family Blog

Hello Bauer family!!! As many of you know Paul and I have a blog set up for our own little family but I thought it would be a good idea to set a blog for the entire Bauer family. I will manage the blog so if you have pictures, letters, whatever...that you want to post on the blog just send them to my email and I will post them on this family blog. When you send stuff to me please write out exactly what you want me to write on the blog otherwise I will just make something up to post. Does that make sense? I would like to list birthdays and other special events on here as well. Please take pictures of your family and we can keep in touch with one another through this. If you think this is lame, don't help me out but I would love for this to all work out.
Love to all
