Grandpa has moved

Grandpa Bauer has moved!

That's right. He is now living in an independent living retirement home in South Jordan. He has his own apartment and is doing great and adjusting to his new life. {just watch out he might be on the look out for a new "rest home momma" for his daughters!}--his words, not mine!

In other news....sorry I haven't been updating the blog with birthdays or anything...I have been soaking up every minute I can with my kids this summer....both boys are going to preschool {which starts in 2 weeks} and so I am trying my very best to have lots of fun with them. But happy birthday to those who are celebrating this summer!!

In family news, Ericka just had surgery on her left knee. Nothing major, she had to have it scoped. It has been giving her trouble for probably the last 10 years and she has had enough. Surgery was quick and she was only in the hospital for a few hours! Momma Finn took charge of her kids for the day. I have talked to her a few times and she seems to be doing great...a little pain is all! Keep her in your prayers...a speedy recovery would be awesome for a her and her busy little family! :)

FLOP

I guess I was wishing for a miracle thinking I could get pictures from everyone to make a book for grandpa's birthday!

Just chalk the idea up as a major flop! Thank you to the few of you who got in contact with me and attempted to help me with the idea. The book is not going to work out this year....maybe another time!

As for reunion/birthday party details, I don't have many but I will share what information I do have. The reunion this year is a birthday celebration for Grandpa Bauer! July 9th is the big day! I am not for sure on the time but I know it will be held at Russ and Janiel's church meeting house up in Taylorsville! We are doing cake and ice cream at the church! My info. is a little sketchy, I know, but this is all I have so far. (I guess I should find out the details :)

A few weeks ago Sharon, Tracey, Bud, Stacey, Jamie and Lindsey all came over to my house for a little visit. Lindsey was about halfway with her pregnancy! She looked adorable! It was fun to visit for a few minutes.

I heard from my mom today that Tracey and Bud are putting together a picture/video/slideshow for grandpa's birthday party! {good luck getting photos from everyone!!} I think the idea is fabulous. So if you have photos you want in the slideshow get in touch with Tracey! She should have all the nitty-gritty details! I'm sure they are excited with their project and they will need help getting photos together so send 'em her way!

Grandpa's Book

Hey family!

I am still putting together a book for Grandpa's 90th birthday and I still need lots and lots of help getting it all together!

I will be sending out an email with the details again. Please let me know if you need help doing your page. I am more than willing to help with the pictures. If you know what you want your page to say but you aren't sure how to do it, send me an email and I will post it for you!

Also I am going to list all of the birthdays in the book. If I have missed your birthday on the blog let me know so I can update my list and get it right in the book.

I want to add pictures of Grandpa with kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. If you have some of these pictures upload them to the shutterfly account (where I have the book) or send them to me and I will upload them. I want to have lots of pictures of family in the book!

ps. I just got an email from Trish reassuring me that Grandpa Grape is doing fabulous in Salt Lake. He is having fun telling stories about Russ to his kids...they are having a good time harassing Russ about his childhood {keep it up Trish!}.

April

April is here and the weather is perfect! I love the sunny days and cool nights of spring. Last night my boys, all three of them, slept out in the backyard in a tent. Sweet. No girls were allowed but that's ok with me. Samantha and I snuggled up in our king size bed.

As far as family news goes...Crystal is home safe and sound. Her mom and dad are hopefully enjoying the short time they get to spend with her before she moves out! I got to talk with her on the phone for a few minutes after she got home and she sounded great! Cindy had to monitor her phone calls....people {boys} were calling for Crystal at 9 o'clock in the morning. We all know what a sweetie Crystal is so I am not surprised people wanted to talk to her and hear all about her mission. Rumor has it, Crystal wasn't allowed any phone calls for a whole day so that Cindy could get in some mother-daughter time with her! I don't blame you Cindy!!

In other news, Grandpa is in Salt Lake staying with Russ and Janiel. He was a little reluctant to go and couldn't believe that he actually agreed to going up there to stay for a bit. I haven't talked to him but I am sure Russ and Janiel are taking great care of him. I told him before he left that a little bit of "cooler" air might be good for him. He didn't think I was too funny. My mom told him a lot of people might be very excited to see him and might even cry because they would be so happy. His response: "oh, tears of joy huh?" Yep, Grandpa tears of joy, all for you!
I'll be honest, I miss Grandpa down here. I am taking care of the mail, newspapers, and watering the plants and it's just not as fun taking my boys over to Grandpa Grapes house when he's not even there! Oh, well. Hopefully he is doing well and enjoying his time with Russ.

We are blessing Samantha next Sunday (April 10th) here in St. George. What's that? You want to come? Oh, ok! Our ward meets at 9:00 am and we would love to see you there! And if you make the trip down here I will feed you lunch/brunch afterward, here at my house! I am so excited to get her dressed up all pretty in her dress....I'm just hoping it still fits by next weekend. She is growing like a weed!

Can you believe it?

I just got off the phone with Cindy, and she and Rondo are beyond excited to see her.

She will be at the Salt Lake airport at 1pm. (if you want to go see her you can!)

On Sunday (27th) she will be speaking in her ward at 12:50.

Their ward is huge. Really. It's big. If you are planning to be there to hear her speak, you better get there early. It fills up fast. And with the crowd Crystal is sure to bring in....well, just get there early!

I am so so excited to see her. I've been thinking about her all day.

March 3rd?? Really? Who said February could go by in a blur and that March could make such a grand appearance? Well. As for birthdays this month we have my wonderful mother's birthday which she has already started celebrating, even though it's not until March 7th. We also are celebrating Aunt Connie's birthday on the 9th. I get to say we because she is still staying with Grandpa and so I get to see her on her birthday....unless she goes home before then, hopefully not!

Speaking of Aunt Connie and my mother, you should all know what a fabulous job they are doing taking care of grandpa. Just this week we all ventured off to Costco together. We were quite the bunch. Our group included: Grandpa, Connie, Mama Finn, myself, Connor, Dylan and Sam....we caused more traffic jams in Costco than a roll-over on I-15 during rush hour. {clever, I know} Seriously though, it was so fun to get out and about with my kids, and grandpa!

Connie and my mom have also been to TJ Maxx, Tai Pan, Harmons, and a few other places with grandpa and each trip has been fun, and exhausting for everyone involved. You should all know that Grandpa is doing well. He is enjoying having company to keep him busy, cook for him, and keep him entertained. I know my mom has loved spending time with him all while getting to enjoy time with her sister!

Today the "three amigos" headed out to Wal-mart to get flowers and then drove up to Rockville to visit Nell's grave. They were going to get an early start {like 9:30 am} but Grandpa has his schedule and morning routine so they didn't get out of town until almost 12:00...just in time to stop at Village Inn for lunch. {Grandpa LOVES to eat at Village Inn....not just for the good food but for the "good view" as well....just ask my mom and Connie!}

Sister Crystal Poole will be arriving in Salt Lake on March 23....not sure of the time but I bet if you called Cindy or check out Crystal's blog you could find out the exact time. I know everyone is welcome to meet her at the airport!!! We can't wait to see her!

BREAKING NEWS: Lindsey is finding out what she is having right now....I think!!! I will update when I get the details!

Anyway, happy spring...even if you are sitting in freezing temperatures with snow on the ground!

and for your viewing pleasure...the latest trip to Overton!This last picture is Grandpa with a group of volunteers who were at St. Thomas cleaning/restoring the area. Pretty cool eh? They got talking to Grandpa while visiting the museum and learned that he had grown up in St. Thomas!

February News

I know it's a bit early however, I am having this baby no later than Wednesday, February 2nd and so I wanted to make sure I got February birthdays and news taken care of.

Family News

{Grandma Nell and Dylan when he was only a few days old}

**This past week has been stressful--to say the least. Grandma Nell was taken to the hospital Sunday morning after suffering a massive stroke. Tuesday morning she passed away peacefully.
Grandpa and Grandma Nell had a beautiful relationship together. I feel so blessed to have been able to visit with them weekly and to witness just how much they loved each other. They both agreed that their life was perfect because they didn't have anything to worry about except taking care of each other--and they took such good care of each other. Grandpa wanted only the best for his Nellie. The love they showed to each other throughout their 11 years together is something that I hope to have with Paul.

Grandma Nell will always hold a special place in my heart and with my kids. They love going over to visit with "Grandpa Grape and Grandma Nell" and I hope I can find little ways to help them remember what a special grandma she was for them.

**Grandpa Bauer is going to be a great-great-grandpa this year, and Sharon will be a great-grandma. Lindsey is expecting a baby in a few more months. No details about if it's a girl or a boy but we can't wait to find out. And don't you worry I will pass along any and all information I have to keep you all updated! Congrats Lindsey!!
{funny side note about this. I was telling Grandpa the other day that he was going to be a great-GREAT-grandpa his response: "well, Tara, you're damn right I'm a great grandpa, but I already knew that!!} oh grandpa, always a joker :)

**The Seven Sisters Reunion is the last Saturday of this month. Mark your calendars for a little weekend get-away!

Also, I am working on a little something for Grandpa and I need EVERYONE'S help to make it turn out right. I won't share too many details but I will give you a hint.....every family needs to find a family picture or 2 (or 5 if you really want to) for a surprise for grandpa. I think after I have this baby and get a few more things organized for the surprise, I will let everyone know ALL the details!!!

Runnin' a little late....

but I did remember TODAY!!!

The only reason I remembered is because it's my sweet big brother Chad's birthday! Happy Birthday to you! I hope your day has been fabulous and you got spoiled...heaven knows you deserve it! Love you and hope your day has been awesome!

Latest Family News:
If you haven't already heard, Aunt Connie has retired! Her last day of work was December 17th. She had a few parties to celebrate with family and friends. Unfortunately I can't get the pictures that were sent to me uploaded. I was able to see her at Rondo and Cindy's house with Russ and Janiel, my parents, Sharon, and Guy and Heather! Let me tell you, they know how to party. So much so, that Guy and Heather and Paul and I were outta there before the "real" party even began. haha! Congrats to Connie!!!!

AND Crystal has a release date from her mission in Brazil of March 22! How exciting! I can't wait to see her and I know Rondo and Cindy are getting anxious to have her home. Upcoming Events:
The Seven Sister's Reunion will be here before we know it. Mark your calendars for the last Saturday in February...and then pray for decent weather. Last year was so cold and windy.

Our annual Bauer Family Reunion will be held here again in sunny St. George. We are celebrating Grandpa's 90th birthday this year! I believe the reunion will be held July 9th so make a plan to be here for the grand celebration! Russ, my mom, Connie and Sharon are all planning it so if you have questions call one...or maybe call all four of them....with any questions! {just don't be surprised if you get a different answer/opinion from each one!} wink~wink!!

And Mama Finn will have a new grandbaby no later than February 2. That's right we are ready to welcome baby Samantha into our family in a matter of weeks. We are so so excited!

Dylan goes in for a regularly scheduled 3 month MRI scan for his brain tumor on Monday, the 10th. Will you say a little prayer for him? He is doing great and we just hope that the little stinker making a home in his brain is sitting tight and not causing any problems. {thanks}
